AMANDA SAENZ

Seattle, U.S.

Amanda Saenz is a latinx, queer, non-binary intersex activist, and a recent graduate of the University of Washington. A diagnosis of partial androgen insensitivity syndrome at age 13 sparked an interest in biology, and eventually led them to work for social justice.

In 2015 Amanda was cast as "Raven" on MTV's Faking It and made television history as the first intersex person to portray an intersex character. Amanda's been involved with the intersex youth leadership development program, InterACT, for three years.

Nerdy and bookish, Amanda finds comfort in a good sweater and a nice cup of coffee. They hope to continue to pursue questions that challenge dated paradigms about bodies, gender, and sexuality, as well as support their community however they can.
