LIANNE SIMON
Atlanta, U.S.
Lianne is a Christian who writes about intersex. Her debut novel, Confessions of a Teenage Hermaphrodite, is a deeply emotional tale of growing up with a sexually ambiguous body. For more than ten years, Lianne worked with a support group for the parents of children with mixed gonadal dysgenesis (MGD). As an adult with MGD, she hopes to raise awareness of some of the issues faced by such children.
The same condition which left her tiny and frail as a child, and gave her a pixie face, also prevented her from becoming the young man her parents expected. Faced with taking testosterone, Lianne chose estrogen instead, and changed her legal status to female.
